2009 President's Message

It is a very exciting time to be a LGBT Democrat in Collin County Texas! Your SDCC board is partnering with other Democratic and LGBT Clubs and Organizations in order to maximize our resources for our party and our community.  Be part of the change sweeping the country in 2009, let your voice be heard!  If you have not already renewed your membership or have not joined our membership yet, yearly dues are ($35. individual, $60. household) See membership application, brochure, and newsletters in lower left hand corner of this web page.

On Saturday March 14th the SDCC membership met to conduct 2009 SDCC Officer Elections, and work on our 2009 Goal setting.

SDCC July General Meeting

The Stonewall Democrats of Collin County will be holding a Social Mixer & General Membership Meeting on Thursday July 9th starting at 6:30pm, at Mexi-Go Restaurant & Club @ 6205 Coit Rd Suite 396, Plano, TX 75024. This is located in the NW Plaza at the intersections of Coit Rd & SpringCreek Parkway.

6:30pm is the Social Mixer

7:00pm is a Business Meeting.

We have some new business to take care of such as approving expenses for our PO Box, July 4th Parade materials, and electing a representative from our group to the National Stonewall Democrats Leadership Council. We need to follow up on our growth plan by making some outreach phone calls to the people who identified themselves as LGBT on the March 08 Democratic Primaries, and our personal friends and associates.

We will each write a letter to President Obama at this meeting to ask for the Full Repeal of "Don't ask Don't Tell" and "DOMA" so make sure to bring a pen, paper, envelope, and stamp. This will kick off our letter writing campaign to our Federal, State, and Local elected representatives.

SDCC 2009 Goals

In 2009 we will be working to reach out to all of our Democratic LGBT constituents in Collin County, seeking input and concerns. We will continue to grow our membership & volunteer base,  and work for fair Democratic representation at all levels of government.

The Stonewall Democrats of Collin County are working to organize our LGBT community to make sure all Collin County LGBT residents are registered to vote, know the issues, and are in someway supporting our local, state, and federal Democratic candidates. 

If you would like to become involved in some way, help us work with the other Democratic groups on phone banking, Get out the Vote (GOTV), blockwalking for local & state candidates, volunteering to help staff a DPCC booth at a local event or festival, or help with data entry and office tasks at the DPCC office in Plano.
